Welcome
This sites tells you about some of the great harp activities in Coventry and Warwicksire. Our mission is to make the Celtic harp accessible to everyone in the area, as performers or audiences or through harp therapy. Over recent years, we've helped make this area a hotbed of harping, with a community of wonderful harpers eager to share the pleasures of the instrument.
We work in partnership with other organisations, and help run harp clubs for young people, evening classes where adults can learn the harp, and organise other events.
Yet more changes!
The evening classes are no longer running. However, a group from the current class has siezed the initiative and is running a new harp group on the 2nd Wednesday of each month starting April 14th. [read more]
Herbert Harpotunties: Join us at the Herbert in Coventry for our informal harp drop-in, welcoming harpers and newcomers. On the second Saturday of each month.
English harp project
After talking about it for too long, some of us have launched www.englishharp.org, a project to develop a repertoire of English traditional music for the harp. This follows conversations when people have said they'd love to play English music if only there were any good tunes. This web project will list tunes which work well 'under the fingers'. At the moment the site is registered but not posted, so come back soon!
Children's harp club
We still haven't found a tutor, but are preparing some funding bids which will provide some harp events for young people. Obviously we aren't counting chickens, but we are hoping something will happen over the summer!
Sound files
For anyone wanting to keep up with the late night sessions in Edinburgh International Harp Festival, we've posted a heap of recordings from 2009. [read more]
