Welcome

This sites tells you about some of the great harp activities in and around Coventry. Our mission is to make the Celtic harp accessible to everyone around Coventry, as performers or audiences. Over recent years, we've helped make Coventry a hotbed of harping, with a community of wonderful harpers eager to share the pleasures of the instrument.

We work in partnership with other organisations, and help run harp clubs for young people, evening classes where adults can learn the harp, and organise other events.

Evening class moved (hurry if you want a place)

Coventry City Council's evening class has been the engine behind the Cov Harp explosion, but last week we heard they planned to close down the class. Then three days later Warwickshire is interested in taking the class on again!

The full story is one of policies, managers etc - Ian Neal who helped us establish the harp class has been brilliant. We are a little less chuffed with the policies he's had to apply. But Ian is firmly an official lifetime hero of all things Harpy!

So now we hope to move to Warwickshire . . . still agreeing a venue and other details, but the support is fantastic. Roll on September! If you want to join - we don't have details yet, but an informal waiting list is already nearly full, so contact us soon if you are interested.

Change in name

To reflect the work in Warwickshire, we'll start referring to ourselves as "Harpotunities: promoting the harp in Coventry & Warwickshire". Our constitution and bank account will remain "Small Harps for Coventry". This website will have an overhaul soon to reflect the change.

East met West

We've had a grand day organised by Ruth, as part of the East Mids Clarsach branch's programme and drawing in lots of the Coventry mob too. Steph West led a truly excellent day - very sensitive to the needs of a diverse class, pushing us all productively.

Good luck to Steph for tomorrow's Fleadh!
